About Colocasia esculenta ‘Black Magic’
Colocasia ‘Black Magic’ is a dramatic elephant ear plant known for its deep, almost black foliage and bold tropical appearance. The large heart-shaped leaves develop rich dark purple to near-black tones, creating a striking statement plant as it matures.
As the plant grows, the leaves will become larger and more impressive, forming the classic oversized elephant ear shape that Colocasia are loved for.
This plant is currently growing in a perlite-based mix while establishing its root system and acclimatising to normal indoor conditions.
This listing allows you to secure the exact plant now while it completes this final stage of acclimatisation.
By allowing this final settling period, your plant is being prepared for a true home-to-home environment. Rather than being moved straight from high humidity growing conditions, it is given time to stabilise and strengthen before travelling to its new home.
Basic care guidance once home
Light
Bright light is ideal. Colocasia can tolerate some gentle direct sunlight.
Water
Keep the growing medium consistently moist. Colocasia enjoy more moisture than many houseplants.
Humidity
Moderate humidity will support strong growth.
Temperature
Warm conditions around 20–28°C are ideal.
As with all young plants, natural variation in growth and leaf size should be expected as the plant matures.
When it is time to ship, your plant will be carefully packaged and a heat pack will be included if required to ensure it arrives safely.
